Permitted Inert Waste
For inert landfills there is a limited list of wastes deemed to meet the criteria for inert waste.
Permitted materials are classified by the following European Waste Codes:
EWC 10 11 03 | Waste glass-based fibrous materials (without organic binder) |
EWC 15 01 07 | Glass packaging |
EWC 17 01 01 | Concrete |
EWC 17 01 02 | Bricks |
EWC 17 01 03 | Tiles and ceramics |
EWC 17 01 07 | Mixtures of concrete, bricks, tiles, ceramics |
EWC 17 02 02 | Glass |
EWC 17 05 04 | Soils and stones excluding topsoil, peat, soil and stones from contaminated sites |
EWC 20 01 02 | Glass |
EWC 20 02 02 | Soil and stones only from garden and parks waste, excluding topsoil and peat |
These wastes are acceptable if:
- They are a single stream of a single waste type and are from a single source.
- They are not contaminated and do not contain other materials or substances such as metals, asbestos, plastics, chemicals, etc. Some forms of inert waste may be used for engineering purposes within the landfill site.
- As an inert landfill we are unable to accept green waste such as trees, grass, brambles etc. As part of site clearance we would expect materials of this nature to be removed/scraped back before the inert waste is loaded. We accept that it is impossible to remove every trace of such material so we accept a small degree of tolerance. This will be confirmed on inspection of the load.
- We are unable to accept plasterboard (gypsum).
